Out of Network Information

What is an out of network provider?

An out-of-network provider is one which has not contracted with your insurance company for reimbursement at a negotiated rate.

What networks are Colors of Austin Counseling contracted with?

A select few of our clinicians are contracted with Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna. All of our clinicians are able to bill out of network though.

How can I check my out of network benefits?

As an out-of-network provider, we have partnered with Mentaya to help our clients save money on therapy. You can use the tool below to see if you qualify and how much you can expect to be reimbursed for your therapy sessions.

You can also contact your insurance company directly to find out how much they will reimburse for therapy sessions. You will need to call them with the following information:

  • Your insurance policy number, group plan number or member number

  • Who will be receiving the services (for example if it was the primary insured or a dependent like a child)

  • CPT Codes (these are how we code the appointment to let insurance know what type of session it is)

    • 90791: Psychiatric Diagnostic Evaluation/Intake Session

    • 90837: 60 Minute Individual therapy (60 min)

    • 90834: 45 Minute Individual Therapy Session (45 min)

    • 90846: Family session without client present (parent consultation)

    • 90847: Family session with client present (family or couples therapy)

    • 90840: Additional Crisis Therapy (30 min)

  • Ask your insurance company how long you should expect to wait for your claim to be paid

How do I receive reimbursement for our therapy sessions through my insurance company?

1. Ask your therapist for a Superbill (an itemized receipt detailing the services received and the diagnosis given)

2. Contact your insurance company to obtain a health insurance claim form. You can also download a copy from their website:

a. Aetna

b. BCBS

c. OPTUM/United Healthcare

d. Cigna

3. Follow all of the instructions on the health insurance claim form and make a copy of this and your Superbill before you submit it. Check to make sure everything is completely accurate.
