A Little About jasmeen

Hi, I’m Jasmeen! I am a final-year student in the Master of Social Work program at UT Arlington. I am a proud native of the “Keep Austin Weird” city, Austin, Texas, where I’ve immersed myself in the city’s vibrant and free-spirited atmosphere. As a dedicated mother, mental health professional, and multifaceted individual, my diverse experiences have equipped me with the ability to empathize and guide others on their unique journeys.

My Approach to Therapy

My therapeutic approach is rooted in an interdependent framework, reflecting my commitment to fostering collaborative and mutually beneficial relationships with clients. Drawing from diverse therapeutic modalities, I integrate techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Interpersonal Therapy, Art Therapy, and Mindfulness.

Education + Clinical Experience

My educational journey includes a current pursuit of a Master's in Social Work at the University of Texas at Arlington and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Huston-Tillotson University.

In addition to being a student and an intern at Colors of Austin Counseling, I currently serve as a Grants Administrator for the Texas Workforce Commission. I have also served as the Director of Workforce Development Programs at Austin Urban Technology Movement, where I lead initiatives in job placement and volunteer management. Previously, I held the role of Vice President at Hearts2Heal, focusing on mental health awareness within BIPOC communities.

WHY I DO THIS WORK

My passion for Psychology blossomed during a transformative period in my life, sparking the creation of my business, House of Chiron. In this venture, I blend traditional astrology and psychology to aid clients in goal-setting, personal growth, and behavior modification. Additionally, growing up in a household riddled in mental health challenges, I created a deep passion to help others find the resources and help they needed.

On A Lighter Note…

I am the mother of four kiddos (2 by birth and 2 by bonus). So, my life is pretty full and active. In my free time, I enjoy taking dance classes: salsa, hip-hop, heels, ballet, tap, etc. I am also a professional astrologer, so learning something new is always a good pass time for me.
