My Approach to therapy

Hi! I’m happy you’re here! My name is Meagan Shepperd. I am currently in my last year of graduate school at West Texas A&M University as I will graduate Spring 2025.

My main goal as a therapist is to help others become the best versions of themselves. I have a very optimistic mindset with my approach being open-minded, empathetic, and caring. Ensuring comfortability and safety is a priority in my approach. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is a very important aspect of therapy in order for clients to receive the most effective therapy for themselves. Some theories and skills I could use would be person-centered theory, cognitive behavioral theory, rational emotive behavior theory, positive psychology techniques, challenging skills, validation/reflection skills, and mindfulness. With this internship, I am looking to grow within myself and also hoping to gain as much knowledge as I can in order to be the best and most effective therapist I can be.

Personal

I was born and raised here in the beautiful Austin, Texas. I have loved living here my whole life and it is definitely home to me. I was a cheerleader from kindergarten to my senior year in high school with my younger sister who I am very close with. I love going to concerts, all things Bachelor Nation, cooking and baking, trying new restaurants, true crime podcasts, traveling, reading, being outside, and spending time with my family and friends!

just for fun
