professional
Hello, my name is Noemi Arjona, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate. I am a bilingual and bicultural counselor who is passionate about helping clients achieve their ultimate self. I graduated from the University of Rio Grande Valley with a bachelor's degree in English. Later in life, I pursued and graduated with a master’s degree in counseling and human development from Lamar University. I have spent most of my career working in low social economic communities in high demand for mental health services. I have experience working with anxiety, ADHD, depression, life transitions, professional issues, relationship issues, and trauma.
APPROACH TO THERAPY
My counseling style is compassionate and person-centered. I truly believe that the most important factor in successful therapy is building a trusting relationship between the client and counselor. I will create a safe space where my clients feel comfortable, accepted, and valued. As a counselor, I utilize a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused, and problem-solving techniques that best fit my clients needs.
why I do this work
I was born and raised in McAllen, Texas. This is a small border town located ten minutes away from Mexico. Most of the population in my community associate mental health as a taboo subject. Prior to becoming a counselor, I was an educator for ten years. I continuously saw the need for mental health awareness with my students and families. I decided to pursue a degree in counseling to make a difference in my community.
PERSONAL
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, taking long walks with my senior Great Dane named Nina, traveling, trying different coffee shops and restaurants.
